Role
I was the one who proposed the original idea and got connected with four collaborators whose skill sets complemented mine, all through the Women in Innovation Hackathon at Cisco. Nahid Alam, an engineer, crafted the technical architecture for our proposal. Both Cheryl Wright, a project manager, and Christina Cielusniak, a business operations manager, tested the user flow I designed, provided valuable feedback, managed the project timeline, and edited our proposal essay. Jochen Schirdewahn, a principal engineer with multiple patents, served as our mentor, guiding us through every step of the patent application process.
About
A design proposal that explores how to allow multiple Webex meeting participants to share their screens simultaneously and how to effectively present those screens.
A fictional design for the Webex app allows users to manage multiple shared screens. The cursor is shown dragging one shared screen from the queue to the stage, where another shared screen is already displayed.
This is a design proposal I created for the Webex app while participating in Cisco’s 2021 Women in Innovation Hackathon. The proposal addresses a pain point I've frequently encountered as a remote worker using mainstream video conferencing apps, including Cisco’s own Webex. At the time, most video call platforms allowed only one user to share their screen at a time. If another user wanted to share their screen, the previous screen would disappear. However, in many collaborative scenarios, it would be beneficial to share multiple screens simultaneously—like when two meeting participants need to compare documents side by side to grasp the full context. To solve this issue, I proposed a new feature that would enable multiple screen shares at once and visualized the key user interactions for this feature.Cisco’s patent committee recognized the value of our proposal decided it to should be safeguarded as Cisco’s intellectual property through defensive publication.
